279/365 - Colts Game and Shopping

The main driver for our trip to Indianapolis - the Colts game against the Seattle Seahawks. Scott is a huge Colts fan (remember my Serious Colts Obsession Post?), and makes a point to attend one home game a year. This year, he bought two tickets so that he and Brian could enjoy the game together.

Another big draw for Scott - Lucas Oil Stadium, which opened in 2008. I climbed to the top of the neighboring parking garage to capture this shot. They opened the "windows" while I was going up the stairs:

So, what did Erica and I do while the boys were watching the game? We went shopping, of course! And I came to realize that I am too old to even try on the clothes at the teen oriented stores - stores like Aeropostale and Abercrombie and Fitch. I don't know how the sales people even work at the A&F, with the loud music (I bet it barely passes the OSHA noise regulation of 85dB) and perfume scented air. I know, they're just working there for the employee discount ($20 for a wispy T-shirt - and that's the sale price!). I'm just thankful Erica doesn't have too big of clothing obsession. Yet.

SOOC Saturday - Underneath City Centre Mall

In the heart of downtown Indianapolis, the City Centre Mall complex forms a circular overpass above the intersection of Illinois and Washington Streets, illuminated Saturday night.
Under Circle Centre

The city was crowded and alive with activity - today's Circle City Classic brought in visitors from Alabama and we look forward to tomorrow's Colts game against the Seahawks.

278/365 - Visit to Indy

After Erica's early morning (8:30!) soccer game (ended up in another 1-1 draw), we drove out to Indianapolis for our "Fall Respite" (Scott's name to this short overnight trip).

Even though the cloudy and cool day caused us to bundle up in coats, we enjoyed a short walk around the streets of the city, venturing down to Monument Circle.
Roaming the Capitol City

The streets were bustling with crowds and activity, due to the Saturday afternoon's Circle City Classic football game and tomorrow's ensuing Colts home game. Scott commented that his last trip here to see the Colts wasn't nearly as crowded. The kids opted to spend their evening playing games in the hotel room (we stayed at the Omni Severin) while Scott and I took an evening walk.

We ate dinner at Buca's, a fun Italian eatery where "Family Style Portions" means tons of food. Hey, we'll eat the leftovers after we get back home tomorrow night!

277/365 - I Want My Sweater Back

I haven't posted a self portrait recently, so today you get a picture of my back. But more interesting, a picture that details the lovely crochet pattern on the back of the sweater I bought on campus a couple weeks back.

Fancy Sweater Back

The store, Urban Outfitters, certainly caters to the young and hip, and I may be "too old" for such a cool sweater, but I don't care.

Have a great Friday!

POTD - Spheres Abound [contrast]

A closer view of storage spheres at work, which are being painted. The black balls below provide containment in the event of a spill by covering any spilled liquid, reducing exposure to air. Due to the painting work, the spheres are currently empty.

Friday Fill-Ins - First Fall Edition

1. I have a history of starting something and never finishing it 100%.

2. Photoshop is something I wish I knew [it would help if I had the software].

3. I'm eating (or recently ate) a banana.

4. I like to take pictures while driving on the road. [I never take my eyes off the road - I just hold the camera off to the side of my right temple and click away. You never know what image you'll get!]
This morning's example of "drive by shooting":

5. So that's it, that's where the 2016 Olympics will be held - Rio de Janeiro, not Chicago.

6. A little bit of something is better than nothing!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing at home, tomorrow my plans include an early morning soccer game and Sunday, I want to enjoy shopping in Indianapolis!

276/365 - Sweater Weather

Figures - the first day of October - cool, damp and windy. In actuality, the morning showed promise, with a pink sunrise, but the storm clouds rolled through and never allowed the sun to warm things up.

And I think the air conditioning is still running at work. My office is freezing. So my sweater jacket stayed on all day long.

Sweater Weather

I think the cold, rainy weather is here for a couple days. I suspect I will pull more sweaters out of their hiding places before the weekend is out.
