Ice Haiku

ice barely noticed
until the golden sun shone
transformed to glitter

ice abounds, hanging
shimmering in the sunlight

Swirls and Drops

Sometimes inspiration strikes just by looking outside on a rainy day.

I was initially drawn by the rain drops hanging off the branches, but I didn't want to take my camera outside in the rain.
[OK, maybe I didn't want to go out in the rain]

I shot this from the front door instead.

Swirls

For Texture Tuesday, the same photo, with two texture layers - Kim Klassen's Lola and Lily:
Swirls - Textured

And so you don't think I'm a complete wimp for avoiding the rain, I did go outside later and captured one of those drops using my iPhone and the macro lens of the Olloclip. I really love this little attachment for my phone!

Disintegration and Growth

I am really enjoying the new macro lens. I love that the lens renders the fine details with less effort [I could get the same results with my 24-70mm lens, but I'd have to shoot multiple exposures and somewhat get lucky with the focus].

On the Edge
With ample sun outside, I could capture this rusty edge on the first try.

And I'm loving the emerging growth on the bushes, especially the viburnum, which will bloom and release its sweet fragrance soon.

Morning Dew

I took this picture over a week ago, after my morning run, and I nearly forgot about it. I jazzed it up with some grunge brushes from Shadowhouse Creations.

Morning Dew

Beauty, sweet love, is like the morning dew, Whose short refresh upon tender green, Cheers for a time, but till the sun doth show And straight is gone, as it had never been.

Red and Green

In the spirit of Spring, some "Christmas Colors":

Red:
Faded Redbud

Green:
Glorious Green

I applied PW's 70s action to the Redbud branches to give it a little faded look.
So there you go - Christmas in Spring!

Lilac Bud

I'm patiently waiting for the lilac bush to flower, but I like seeing the buds form right now.

Progress

The garden is showing real signs of growth, now that we've had some warmer days.

Fresh Chives

To my surprise, the chives I planted last year re-emerged and haven't been discovered by the resident bunnies. I think some baked potatoes may be in order this weekend.

And in my neighbor's yard, I spotted these fuzzy branches:
Soft and Fuzzy

Soon, we'll have green popping up everywhere.

Winding Canes

I bet these roses are beautiful in the summer - several are trained along the fence at the horse stable. And since I'm here at least twice I week, I'll find out come June.

In Season

I spotted some red berries on a bush outside my violin teacher's house today.

In Season

Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 56 mm
ISO Speed: 200

I added two textures, both from Jerry Jones at Shadowhouse Creations.
Old Brown Paper and Trashed Viewfinder

I need to start writing down the blending mode and opacity, but generally I use the Overlay and Soft light blending modes at 70-100%.

POTD - Winter Resurgence

Winter reared its head again today, starting with freezing rain, then transitioning to snow and howling winds.

Starting to Accumulate

We're not getting anywhere near the accumulations reported in the Mid Atlantic, just enough to snarl our evening commutes.
